5 - Love Lasts
I Corinthians 13:7
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”
Jeremiah 31:3
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”
John 15:12
I. Lasting Love _Protects_
As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one…”
Romans 3:10
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
I John 1:8
Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
Romans 15:7
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Ephesians 4:2
II. Lasting Love _Has Faith_
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. John 4:18
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Galatians 5:6 I. Lasting Love _Looks for the Best_ II. Lasting Love _Endures the Worst_ I want to let go, but I won’t let go. There are battles to fight By day and by night For God and the right And I will never let go. I want to let go but I won’t let go. I’m sick tis true, And worried and blue And worn through and through But I won’t let go. I want to let go, but I won’t let go. I will never yield. What? Lie down in the field? Surrender my shield?
