Christ, the New Adam

Romans 5:12-21

    I.        Who We Are Because of Adam (12-14)

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.                                                 I Timothy 1:15

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 16 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”

Genesis 2:16-17

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main... Therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls: it tolls for thee.”                         John Donne

“The line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, not between political parties either – but right through every human heart.”                   Alexander Solzhenitsyn

II.        Who We Are Because of Christ (15-17)

1.  _________ Vs. ___________

2.  ____________ Vs. ______________

3.  The Reign of ________

        Vs. the Reign of _______

4.  ______________ Vs. ______________

5.  __________ Vs. _____________

  1. The Significance of Being In Christ (20-21)

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.                                               Romans 3:20

The key truth is…

  • God Does Not __________________

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.                 Romans 8:1

The key instruction is…

  • Live in _________________

…he condemned sin in sinful man, 4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.                               Romans 8:3-4
